About Me

Cuevas de Taulabe, Honduras

I moved from Honduras to the United States for my undergraduate degree when I was 17 years old. My mother is from Tegucigalpa, Honduras and my dad is from Potomac, Maryland. Through McNair Scholars TRIO Program, I found out about the MSU undergraduate summer research opportunity program (SROP). I fell in love with the AFRE department and the MSU campus. After I completed my undergraduate degree in 2014, MSU was my top choice. I joined the PhD graduate program Fall 2014.

I enjoy cycling both inside and outdoors, hiking, kayaking, and cooking for my friends and family, traveling (especially around Latin America), and learning more about my culture and heritage. I have two wonderful cats: Lotus and Oscar.
